Running around the house turning lights on and off is exhausting, but when using timers you can sit back and relax because they do the work for you. When using programmable timers you set them and forget them. Want porch and landscape lighting to turn on at dusk and off at dawn every day? Simply set the timer and forget about it. Heading away on a trip and want to give your home a “lived-in” look while you are gone? Simply set indoor and outdoor lights to turn ON and OFF while you are away. You can even randomize the time for a truly occupied appearance – an effective deterrent to would-be intruders. And let’s not forget the Holidays! You spend so much time stringing lights and setting up inflatables and lighted figures it’s nice to know with a timer that they will all “magically” illuminate as you sip cocoa by the fire.
As an added bonus, Leviton programmable timers feature an astronomical clock that automatically adjusts to local sunrise and sunset times as well as an automatic Daylight Saving Time adjustment option. How’s that for convenience?
Need more of an “on-the-spot” timer? Preset timers, sometimes referred to as countdown timers, are perfect. They feature a selection of time intervals and the push of a button sets how long lights or motor loads remain on before switching off. Options generally include 10, 20, 30 or 60 minutes. Preset timers are ideal when you want the bathroom fan to remain on for 10 minutes after you leave or the light in a child’s room to turn off after 20 minutes as the child falls asleep.
